I have a friend in a really miserable divorce and I wish I could say more or give her something more helpful. She's saved and is trying to trust in the Lord through this but she goes to an ultra-traditional church (which isn't necessarily bad) but I've noticed she never has scripture or anything solidly Biblical to say, only silly little religious sayings like what you'd find on plaques at the Christian book store. Something like "Dance with the Lord and he'll let Mr. Right cut in" sounds cute but is meaningless. There's power in God's Word and I guess that's why the devil has worked to get God's Word even taken out of so many churches because we're left with no anchor when a storm like this hits. She has faith but absolutely no Biblical grounding. What can I give her to really hold on to?

I have just recently gone through a divorce, and it is so hard, it's almost like death, because you feel like you have lost, especially win one has fought so hard for the marriage. And the devil knows how to make a person doubt, but you remind of her this: Hebrews 12:2-3 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. And always remind her, "To lean not on her own understanding, but to lay all her worries and burdens at the cross." And to never live by what she feels, but to live by what she knows, and that's, Jesus is faithful, and will carry her through! Love, Abby Grace

Psalm 139 in its entirety is a beautiful testament to God's complete knowledge of who we are, what we need, and that He's ultimately in control. I pray your friend can find solace more completely in God's Word. As I mentioned to you, DivorceCare is faith based and could be an answer to some of her pain. I pray God's peace for your friend.

When my wife and I seperated Isaiah 40:31 was there for me. Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strenth; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

Thanks, I'm just praying she finds God because I don't think her religion is going to get her very far. I fear these verses and my encouragement just sounds silly to her if she doesn't understand there's power here!

She seems to be doing well. I haven't talked to her in a couple of days. She's really active in her church which, I'm pretty sure is Lutheran. I just think she's more "religious" than anything and I hope she can find the Lord for herself, in a real and personal and powerful way, to get her through all this.

Well I always try to remember this, when we look at circumstances that surround us, and they dont always appear to be too good, always keep in mind, when you pray, God hears you, so when you lift your friend to Him, know that He is working in her life....so dont worry, but rest in His arms of peace and strength....I'll be praying as well.

I would encourage her to read and a little study in the book of Mathew and maybe even John and pray that The Lord will speak to her showing her who Jesus Christ really is.
