I do not see the moral prohibition on gambling that many of my Wesleyan brothers do, even though I was raised in that environment. I have even been known to put a dollar or 2 on the lotto if the pot is big enough.
But other kinds of gambling I usually shy away from on the basis of it being poor stewardship of my finances.
But that is just me. Doing it for strictly entertainment purposes is really not any different than dropping a bunch of cash on dinner and a movie. If you had fun - GREAT!

Yeah, Jesse rarely puts any more than $2 on the pokies, and then he isn't losing anything of great matter.
Went out to lunch today, Jesse & Scott went to the pokies. Jesse came back with nothing, Scott came back with $45.

Good for him. Today was a federal holiday so I had a dr's appointment. I got good news my cholesterol is down, my blood pressure is down and my weight is down (lost 65 pounds since last April), I guess I will live a while longer.

Cool! I did not know you play piano as well as violin! My DW is a pianist (her older sister too).
I have more good news. President elect Obama said he is considering doing away with federal government contractors. This is in keeping with old-line Democratic dogma, large public sector. I have been a federal contractor for the past 10 years. I was offered the job here direct for NOAA that I interviewed for a couple of weeks ago.

Sorry. I thought I remembered you playing violin.
What kind of piano did you get? There is only one that to me has a decent grand piano patch and that is Kurzweil, now owned by Young Chang Pianos of Korea. That patch is now over 20 years old but IMO has yet to be bettered. (kinda pricey though)
Have you heard of the new movie Australia starring Nicole Kiddman? It has been advertised here a lot and opens next week.

I got a Korg SP-250. Haggled them to $1200, which I was happy about.
And I can't help but to hear about the Australia movie...it's EVERYWHERE!! It premiered last night and it's being talked about on every morning show. The real test is if it will be big overseas.

I know it was filmed there, with Austrailian actors, but it was a Hollywood (US) production.
So are we "overseas" or are you????

eta: It opens here Tuesday. Usually movies open either Thursday or Friday but next weekend is Thanksgiving (4 day weekend) so they open early.

Saw an ad for it last night (5 days from the US opening) and it was "not yet rated" which means the studio is still editing it to fit some standard with the MPAA* board here.
It is probably the case that they are trying to get it down from NC-17 to R or from R to PG-13. They do that by negotiating with the board on certain objectionable scenes and clip a few seconds here and there to drop a rating. R and PG-13 are the most lucrative in our market. NC-17 is poison as it used to be called X and is linked to the porn industry.

OK cool. Our rating system is a bit differend. G - is children's movies. PG - parental guidance recommended, M - mature audiences (this is the most common), MA15+ - they will check ID at cinema's for children unless they're with an adult and R18+ - 18 & overs only, this is generally associated with porn but there are also movies rated R that are because of extreme violence & drug use. (For example, in Australia, Pulp Fiction & Fight Club are R-rated)

We used to have a M rating when the MPAA first got started. It was the same as our current R rating. They also had GP (which got confused with PG) and was between G and PG, but that was dropped in less than a year.

I was in Williamsburg, VA for the Black Friday sales. That is an annual tradition of my wife and her sister.
It was much less crowded than in years past. We got gas for $1.559 a gallon, lowest in years.
